Ask the Designer: CMYK or RGB?

Files prepared for paper printing and for posting in the Internet should be saved in two completely different formats: CMYK and RGB.
For many people mysterious CMYK is used to save images for further full color printing. CMYK are the first letters of the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (which is black usually).
RGB is a color space for storing images that will be used digitally, displayed on the screen of a laptop or smartphone. RGB are the first letters of the colors: Red, Green, Blue.
That’s why when I save the packaging design for printing I use CMYK. When I want to save the same image with packaging design for placing it in the online store for example, I use RGB.
The colors that you see on the monitor are not 100% equal to the colors that you will see on paper, even when using exactly the same shades. Therefore, when approving the design of packaging, it is better to trust the printing materials, not the monitor, and, of course, you should always work with professionals.
